1st March 2018

Flakes flutter down
Delicate and soft past the window
Their numbers gather, quicken
'Til a hastening throng blusters beyond the misted glass
Creating winter blankets to caress a busy city in glittering white
Travel slows, some schools close
A welcome surrender to a lesser pace
The blizzard calms, leaving behind its snowy wake
In the playground a fresh floor winks untouched
Beckoning the first pair of eager feet
Children play and laugh like a late Christmas card
Snow-capped boots jump and stamp
Snowballs fly, little legs slide
Bitter cold never brought such glee.
